I can confirm that MLB 2K12 for PS2 is NOT an online title. It's possible that 2K Sports pulled the online mode during late development. Here is an image I took of the game in person compared to the game's stock photo (note: the price of $39.96 is for Madden NFL 12 for PS2, MLB 2K12 had been placed in the wrong spot).

With MLB 2K12 being released without an online mode this year, it's fair to assume that NBA 2K12 may just be the final PS2 game released with online play.
