King of Fighters: Maximum Impact available to play online?

In the online list on this site it's not mentioned, but on the Wikipedia page (list of online PS2 games), it says that KOF: Maximum Impact (both the original and 2) are still active, though it says 'Japan only'.

Now my question is, *is it* online or not (as it's mentioned on Wikipedia). And if it is, and says 'Japan only', how can we play it (I'm in Europe)?

the only way to tell is to buy the japan import version and test it out just search for the game and add Japan Import at the end of it and you should see some results

...that would be quite hard. My PS2 is PAL and the Japanese game is NTSC-J so it won't work on my PS2, I assume?

Wait a minute, look what I just found. http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/bi ... _front.jpg This is the NTSC-J cover of KOF: Maximum Impact 2, and yes it has the ONLiNE stamp at the bottom (the PAL and NTSC-U versions don't have the Net Play/Online stamps so this does indeed suggest it's online in Japan only).

Now, I just need to know if it is still online or if the servers are down. Quite confused now what to do...

The game servers for all of the PS2 King of Fighters games hosted by KDDI were terminated over a year ago. I'll provide a link with proof if I can find it.
