Killzone's online mode has been terminated.

Yesterday afternoon, I received this response from a Sony CSR:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me in regards to accessing the server for Killzone. I understand this is a frustrating issue to encounter and I apologize for the inconvenience The server for Killzone has been shutdown. Unfortunately, I do not have any additional information to provide...

Killzone has no LAN mode, so unless we can get it to work again through DNS redirection, it's gone for good. Then again, Killzone's multiplayer mode is sort of lousy, so maybe it's not that much of a loss, anyway!

I wonder why they finally decided to shut down the server now. Not a huge loss for me personally, but I know some people liked the multiplayer.

Did Sony give a 90 days notice about the servers being terminated? I happy Sony gave a over 90 days notice for the SOCOM games, but i don't think Sony gave a notice about the Killzone servers. If you read the back of most online first party games if not all online first party games it say Sony need to gave a 90 days notice before "SCEA reserves the right to retire the online portion of this game with 90 days notice".

To my knowledge, there was no prior notification of the shutdown. http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/killzone/ If you look at that link, you'll see that the most recent blog post about Killzone for the PS2 was the post that celebrated the 5th anniversary of the game, back in 2009. http://community.killzone.com/t5/Killzo ... -p/1275917 a topic made after the shutdown. There's a link to Guerilla Games' response to the question of whether or not it had been terminated, but nothing about any prior knowledge. So I guess SCE didn't make good on the 90 days notice for that game. (At least not the American version. To my knowledge, the closure of the European version's online mode did get announced in advance.)
