Timesplitters: Future Perfect (14th weekly game 1/8/11)
Just wanted to remind everyone that our next weekly game of Timesplitters Future Perfect will be this weekend on Saturday 1/8/2011 at 7:30 PM Pacific Time (GMT-8). It will be played through LAN tunneling with Xlink Kai.
Our weekly game of TSFP fizzled out the last 2 weeks due to the holidays. However, it is a new year and it's time to rev up more Timesplitters: Future Perfect!
If you ever forget the time for the weekly match, it is also posted on the game calendar.
More info about the weekly game can be found in the news post about it

Noonotthat, Favrenation, and I are around for TSFP, but Xlink Kai is not cooperating tonight because of that flood of PSP players yet again.
So we are forced to switch over to using XBSlink tonight to try playing it.

I was not around for this, but I actually was trying to fix my friend's ps2
His PS2 couldn't read blue discs, and whenever they were put in, they made bad scratching sounds. So I found a video that told us to put these little pieces of that blue masking tape on the disc. And then it worked.

Re: Timesplitters: Future Perfect (14th weekly game 1/8/11)
Is the PS2 a slim or old Fat?
The tape will work, but it is not good, because it MAY come off from heat and WILL cause more problems.
Cleaning may be all that is needed to get it to read the discs
Use compressed air in a can or a cotton q-tip and isopropyl alcohol, if that does not work, adjustment of the angle will be needed
Do that by turning the Azimuth gear (little white cog wheels, maybe ONE or TWO depending on Version--FAT PS2 ONLY)
If this is the slim version, try cleaning the laser the same way and try lubricating the traverse rails (laser rails) with a very small amount of white lithium, otherwise replacement of the Laser will probably need to be done.
As far as the noise goes, if this is the Fat PS2, the noise is caised from the clamper gear near the left side of the Laser assy, may need lube or replacement, Fat PS2 is easy, slim PS2 Not
If you need help or more info, let me know.
Hope this helps

Yea, we used dipped a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and slightly wiped the lens. We also tried turning that white gear a few clicks at a time to see if it made a difference (which it didn't really). It is a FAT ps2, and what do you mean by the "Laser assy"?

Assy, is short for assembly, lol
Fat PS2, I am gonna guess you did not try to clean the second lens on the laser, if I am right, you should clean it as well (compressed Air is the BEST way to do this one), if you did and adjustment of the cogs did not help, then the focusing coils of the laser assembly is ready to "ghost out", you will need another laser...play it until it quits, then replace it.
